Role: Pro Shop assistant, Tucker's Point Club

What is your job? My job is to assist customers and members in their golfing experience. This includes booking tee times, selling merchandise and serving members in the clubhouse. I also manage our fleet of rental carts.

What is your favourite part of the job? My favourite part of the job is when we anticipate a customer's need and the customer is pleasantly surprised. I also enjoy gleaning from my bosses about the operation of the business and coming up with solutions for problems.

What is your least favourite part of the job? My least favourite part of the job is the odd occasion when we are unable to satisfy a customer's need. But it is also where I learn the most.

What is your most interesting experience at work? I had an opportunity to work in Tucker's Point Hotel, revenue and reservations, under a great revenue director. I had a hard time selling so he told me to "get the customers story".

When I did this I started to make more and more sales. I even had customers ask to meet me when they came to the hotel and one couple sent me flowers and a lovely letter. Tucker's Point has a great atmosphere for learning.

What would you be doing otherwise? If I would be doing anything else I would like to be an investment banker and entrepreneur.
