Two firms set up in Bermuda

Two new insurance companies set up in Bermuda last month, bringing the total number to 26.Sirius International Insurance Corporation, a Class 4 insurer, was formed on July 6, while Class 3 insurer Torus Insurance (UK) Ltd. was incorporated by Torus (Bermuda) Services Ltd. on July 21.It is the joint lowest number of companies to start-up on the Island for the month along with April.

Specialist insurance firm Torus Insurance Holdings Ltd. (Bermuda) was launched with a $720 million equity funding from private equity firm First Reserve Corporation in June 2008.
