Tyco seals Scott deal
company, has announced stockholders of Scott Technologies, Inc. approved Tyco's acquisition of Scott.
Tyco said the merger with Scott -- which has annual revenues of approximately $260 million, is a leading designer and manufacturer of sophisticated, high performance respiratory protection systems, gas detection instruments and other life saving products for fire fighting, industrial, aviation and government markets -- became effective yesterday.
Scott will maintain its headquarters in its present facilities at the Chagrin Highlands development in Beachwood, Ohio.
TRENWICK PRESENTATION CON BUC Trenwick presentation Bermuda-based Trenwick Group Ltd. has announced that James F. Billett, Jr., Chairman, president and chief executive officer is scheduled to give a presentation on Wednesday May 16, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Goldman Sachs Financial Services Conference in New York City.
There will be a simultaneous audio webcast which may be accessed through Trenwick's website: http:/www.trenwick.com. It will be archived for approximately 60 days following the presentation.
Trenwick is a Bermuda-based specialty insurance and reinsurance underwriting organisation with five distribution platforms operating through its subsidiaries located in the United States, the United Kingdom and Bermuda.
TYCOM SIGNS PACT BUC Tycom signs pact Bermuda-based TyCom Ltd. has just signed a deal with Ciena Corp., a Linthicum-based fibre-optic network equipment maker worth at least $150 million.
Under the agreement TyCom will purchase of Ciena's optical switching and transport systems for deployment in the TyCom Global Network.
The two-year agreement covers TyCom's purchase of Ciena's MultiWave CoreDirector and MultiWave CoreStream systems, according to a Ciena statement.
TyCom, a subsidiary or Tyco, is building an undersea optical network that would span roughly 250,000 km and connect all continents except Antarctica.
The first phase of TyCom's entails deployment of Ciena's CoreDirector and CoreStream platforms in the transatlantic and Northern Europe systems of the network.
