Banks' busy week

Banks proved to be the biggest gainers on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.LOM (Holdings) Ltd. boosted its share price by 14.3 percent (50 cents) to $4, with 1,000 shares traded, while Butterfield Bank saw 39,747 common shares change hands as its stock rose 15 cents (three percent) to $5.15.Butterfield also transacted 30 preference shares worth $1,225 each.

Banks proved to be the biggest gainers on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd. boosted its share price by 14.3 percent (50 cents) to $4, with 1,000 shares traded, while Butterfield Bank saw 39,747 common shares change hands as its stock rose 15 cents (three percent) to $5.15.

Butterfield also transacted 30 preference shares worth $1,225 each.

Elsewhere, KeyTech Ltd. saw its share value increase by 75 cents (8.8 percent) to $9.25, as 2,155 shares were traded, while the Ascendant Group Ltd.'s share price fell 50 cents (three percent) to $16, as 2,451 shares changed hands.

Argus Group Holdings Ltd. also transacted 9,700 shares, but its share value remained unchanged at $8.

The Index, as a whole, advanced 42.41 points (1.82 percent) to 2,321.66, with 55,053 shares worth BD$343,139.05 traded and 12,000 shares worth US$168,313 transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index was also up 8.34 points (0.9 percent) at 917.24.
