BSX hits new low

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) reached a five-and-a-half year low yesterday.The Index slipped to 2,704.3, a level not seen since October 2003, as it traded 3,500 shares worth $25,375 to fall 43.68 points (1.59 percent) to 2,704.3.Butterfield Bank also dropped 3.3 percent (25 cents) to $7.25 with 3,500 shares changing hands, making it a 30.62 percent decline for the year-to-date for the bank.

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) reached a five-and-a-half year low yesterday.

The Index slipped to 2,704.3, a level not seen since October 2003, as it traded 3,500 shares worth $25,375 to fall 43.68 points (1.59 percent) to 2,704.3.

Butterfield Bank also dropped 3.3 percent (25 cents) to $7.25 with 3,500 shares changing hands, making it a 30.62 percent decline for the year-to-date for the bank.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, closed up 11.23 points (1.71 percent) at 667.13.
