Cox Hallett Wilkinson ranked among Island’s top three law firms

The up-and-coming corporate team of Cox Hallett Wilkinson Ltd (CHW) has been ranked one of the top three law firms in Bermuda for corporate and finance work by a top legal publication.“Chambers and Partners 2011 Global Guide to the World’s leading lawyers for business” listed the CHW corporate team alongside Appleby in the second tier of corporate and finance practices in Bermuda, behind Conyers Dill & Pearman in tier one.Chambers wrote that the firm advises on a wide range of matters, providing prominent support for M&A transactions and “received very enthusiastic feedback from clients, who recognised the firm’s continued strengthening of its expertise”.The team was described as being held in high esteem for its knowledge of local law and regulatory requirements with “extremely satisfied clients” and that it “understands strict timetables and knows how to deal with pressure”.On an individual level, corporate department head Ernest Morrison was commended for his understanding of local law and, particularly, aircraft financing-related advice. Clients are quoted as valuing his positive approach and “excellent practical advice for meeting business objectives”.Senior associate Jonathan Betts, was described as a “first-rate practitioner“ who focuses mostly on funds, banking and insurance and has developed an excellent reputation across the Island, while fellow senior associate Natalie Town received mention for rapidly building a reputation for being “bright, responsive and a great team player”.Mr Morrison said: “We are very pleased that CHW is recognised as one of three leading corporate practices in Bermuda.
