Bermuda Gas gives away six appliances
Six Bermudians were the lucky recipients of free appliances from Bermuda Gas in the Whirlpool Appliance Giveaway promotion held last month.Joanie Burrows, Roydelle Chinapoo, Carol Hall and Dolly Winwick were all given the appliance they bought between April 11 and April 30 for free plus they also received a cheque for the value of their purchase after being entered for a prize draw. Meanwhile Belvin Hayward landed two appliances in Monday’s draw.Ms Burrows won a clothes dryer, Ms Chinapoo a washer, Ms Hall an electric stove on behalf of the Girl Guides Association, Ms Winwick a dishwasher, and Mr Hayward microwave and a washer. This follows a promotion run by Bermuda Gas in October 2010 where the company gave away $50,000 in appliances to customers who switch from electric to propane gas.Bermuda Gas became the authorised dealer of Whirlpool products in December 2010 following the closure of Home Zone earlier that year.Since then, David DeSilva, Bermuda Gas showroom manager, said that the appliances had proved to be a big success, selling everything from refrigerators, top and front load washers and dryers to cooker top and oven ranges. Most of the products come in gas or electric. He said that the promotion was to mark the reintroduction of the Whirlpool brand in Bermuda and that Bermuda Gas was offering the products as well as parts and service.“The promotion has been a huge success,” he said. “The great thing about it was that particularly in these tough economic times it gave people the chance to win back the cost of what they had spent in store plus the appliance itself.”Mr DeSilva said that the front load washers and dryers had been the best sellers while he was also seeing a lot of customers come in who had done their research particularly on the Energy Star products.Manuel Castellanos, Whirlpool representative for the Latin American region, said that the company would be celebrating its 100th anniversary in November which coincided with the launch at Bermuda Gas one year ago.“The product is selling as soon as it gets here,” he said. “We can’t get it here quick enough.”Mr Castellanos said that his company had decided to team up with Bermuda Gas as they provided the best quality and service on the Island, while Whirlpool offered the most energy efficient products in every category and would be rolling out a new range this year to meet new rules and regulations for Energy Star appliances, as well as carrying a full line of products. For more information contact the Bermuda Gas showroom on 298-6113, e-mail info[AT]bermudagas.bm or visit the website at www.bermudagas.bm
