Michael Branco: SVP of Ignition Bermuda

Fire-hit HWP’s IT systems are back up and running.Local company Ignition Bermuda said it helped the company get IT systems operational within 36 hours. The company said in a statement on Friday: “Ignition has been working on-site and off-site to get the HWP systems operational.“The team has been working to bring the HWP disaster recovery infrastructure online. Ignition has built a dedicated SharePoint site to allow HWP staff to track all incoming calls from their customers.“In addition, the team has provided their Ignition Virtual Office Cloud (IVOC) solution for HWP staff which will allow them access to office applications and their email accounts.”Michael Branco, senior vice-president of Ignition Bermuda added: “This is a devastating situation for HWP and it’s a relief that none of the 115 staff were injured. HWP is a long running business in the Bermuda community and I am very pleased we could help them get their systems going as quickly as possible. I’m very proud of our team for doing all they can to support HWP during this difficult time.“This also demonstrates that disasters don’t just come in the form of hurricanes and earthquakes. Planning for business continuity and disaster recovery is about more than just natural disasters. There are other disasters for which businesses need to be prepared and this recent fire is a jarring reminder of the possibilities, however infrequent they may be. It’s human nature to hope for the best, but it’s good sense to plan for the worst.”l Clarification: Following an article on HWP in Friday’s paper which said that the company was providing transportation to those people whose vehicles had been affected by the fire, we have been asked to clarify that HWP hasn’t been able to provide everyone with transport as it only has five loan vehicles. Customers are asked to call the hotline on 295-5000 to register their request for a vehicle.
