BEC invite applications for scholarship
The Bermuda Employers Council (BEC) has announced it has started accepting applications for the Malcolm Dixon Scholarship Award through to the end of next month.The award will be given to successful candidates who are currently studying in the field of human resources or labour relations management.This year’s award will be up to $5,000 for those interested in pursuing a further education course between January and June 2012, with the winner being announced at the BEC’s Annual General Meeting held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Wednesday December 7.Keith Jensen, president of the BEC, said: “All potential candidates must be Bermudian and must be enrolled in an approved course of study at a credible educational institution leading to certification by a suitable professional body in the fields as mentioned above. The BEC will be pleased to assist with placement in an accredited programme through its ongoing partnership with Cornell University. Additionally, the award will be subject to academic performance.“The BEC will also be providing an award of up to $10,000 for the September 2012 to June 2013 period; and applications for this can be submitted anytime between January 1, 2012 and April 30, 2012.“The scholarship is in honour of labour relations stalwart Malcolm Dixon, who led the Council from 1987 until his retirement in 2001.An application form, which must be completed and submitted by October 31, 2011 is available at www.bec.bm
