BMA makes donations to students
Hard up students received a helping hand from The Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) with a donation of $505 to Knowledge Quest a charity which assists Bermudians in earning respected degrees overseas. The cheque was presented by Oronde Walker and Lynwood Trott of the BMA to Kathy Lines, president of Knowledge Quest, and will go towards any number of scholarships that the organisation provides. The Authority hosted a charity golf tournament at the Tuckers Point Golf Course earlier this month to raise funds for the charity. In the long-term, Knowledge Quest has increased the number of qualified Bermudians entering the workforce, currently enabling 38 students, aged 19 to 47, to earn university degrees in the US, Canada, England and Scotland. Their fields of study range from business administration to architecture to environmental studies. Students must apply to at least five other scholarships to be eligible as Knowledge Quest is a scholarship of last resort.
