Rosewood Tucker’s Point’s new managing director Duncan Graham said he plans to make the resort one of the finest in the world.Speaking at the rebranding yesterday of the resort’s spa, Mr Duncan, who officially takes up his post on April 23, said he had never experienced passengers “gasp” as they had on his flight as it approached Bermuda. He said he was stunned by the Island, calling it “one of the most beautiful places on earth”.He said he had been impressed as well with the Rosewood Tucker’s Point property and staff, saying: “I believe we truly can make it one of the greatest hotels in the world. And we can make things better - from being very good to being great.”He said the resort had three things going for it already: “Location, infrastructure and staff.”“To come to a hotel that has all three is amazing,” he said noting the previous hotels he managed had either very dated infrastructure or weren’t in such a great location as Bermuda, and so close to a large affluent market on the US East Coast. Before coming to manage the 88-room Rosewood Tucker’s Point hotel and Tucker’s Point private club, Mr Graham, originally from Northwest England, spent the last five years as managing director of the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas. He also ran the San Ysidro Ranch hotel in Montecito, California. Both properties were named among the top hotels in the world while he was in charge. The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was named the top US hotel by Zagat and San Ysidro was named the number four hotel in the world on Travel + Leisure Magazine’s World’s Best 2011 list.Rosewood took over Tucker’s Point in March of last year.
