John Johnson: Appointed CEO of Capital G Investments

John Johnson was yesterday named as president and CEO of Capital G Investments Ltd and head of Wealth Management of Capital G Bank Ltd.Mr Johnson assumed the interim president and CEO role in November 2011 from Joel Schaefer, who now serves on the board of directors of the company. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr Johnson will continue as interim chief investment officer of Capital G Bank and will continue to serve on its Asset and Liability Committee.Capital G Bank CEO Ian Truran said: “Over the past few years, John has played a significant role in accelerating growth across the investment platform and the wider wealth management business.“His extensive knowledge and broad operational experience has been of great benefit to our senior management team as we continue to position Capital G Bank as the leader in client service excellence.“I am very pleased to have John on my team and I am excited for the opportunities which lie ahead.”Clarendon Hugh (Hal) Masters, chairman of Capital G Investments, added: “John’s appointment as CEO provides leadership consistency to the Wealth Management Group. We are very pleased to be maintaining the benefit of his expertise in the development and implementation of Capital G’s international and high net worth businesses.”Mr Johnson first joined Capital G Investments in 2009 as chief operating officer, working closely with Mr Schaefer, to accelerate growth efforts and lay the framework for the company’s Wealth Management business. Through a number of strategic acquisitions and organic growth, total assets under management have more than doubled during this period.Mr Johnson said: “I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the region and how Capital G is positioned. It is our people and their commitment to their clients which drives our business momentum.“Most recently with the launch of our Institutional and Captive Solutions business we have experienced a significant inflow of interest as firms seek alternatives which are designed specifically to their individual needs and risk management requirements.”A Bermudian, Mr Johnson, is a seasoned investment executive with expertise ranging from retail distribution, asset management & operations. He has held progressively senior level positions at leading global firms such as HSBC Private Bank, ScotiaMcleod and WP Stewart.
