100 expected at Bermuda Business Summit
Business Development and Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said yesterday that he will host a “Bermuda Business Summit” at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess today.More than 100 attendees are expected and the summit, which will start at 9am, is intended to give an update on Government’s efforts to promote and grow international business.Premier and Finance Minster Paula Cox will open the event. The lunchtime speaker will be Harold ‘Terry’ McGraw, chairman and CEO of McGraw Hill Companies.Other speakers will cover a range of topics including the recently released National Tourism Plan, the Hamilton Waterfront Development, an update on the Bermuda Business Development Corporation, asset management and Islamic finance.“This Government continues to work hard to ensure Bermuda weathers the impacts of the global recession,” Mr Furbert said. “We have put together an impressive panel of speakers and will be engaging in open and frank discussions on how to move Bermuda forward and embrace the opportunities so that the Island continues to be at the forefront of international finance.”
