Cooper moves to Endurance
Former Axis executive Fred Cooper has been named as the Head of Endurance Specialty Holdings’ US Financial Institutions Insurance practice.The Bermuda-based property and casualty reinsurer said Mr Cooper will work out of New York to grow the new business line offering management liability coverage to institutions such as hedge funds, private equity firms, banks and insurance companies.“The addition of this new business to Endurance’s US Professional Lines Insurance area complements the company’s existing Commercial Management Liability and EndurancePro units,” the company said in a press release.“Mr Cooper brings to Endurance over 20 years’ experience underwriting management liability and financial institution insurance solutions.”Jack Kuhn, Chief Executive Officer of Global Insurance, added: “Fred’s demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful solutions in this specialty space will be an important component as we expand our insurance capabilities in the US. I am confident that under his leadership, we will deliver new product offerings and strengthen relationships with our retail and wholesale networks in this market.”Mr Cooper was Aspen Specialty’s Executive Vice President and Chief D&O Underwriter immediately before this latest appointment. leading that company’s management liability business targeting commercial risk and financial institutions.Prior to that, he was with Axis Insurance, most recently as Executive Vice President for the Financial Insurance Solutions segment where he led the commercial D&O business within Axis Professional Lines.Mr Cooper was also Senior Vice President, Underwriting Officer and Product Manager for Axis’s Middle Market/Technology/Private Equity unit, and has held underwriting roles at Liberty International Underwriters, Aon Financial Services and AIG.He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
