Four-hour corporate registrations now offered in Cayman
by Rebecca ZuillCNS Business is reporting that the Cayman Island’s general registry has ‘finally made the move’ to a paperless format, and officials in the offshore financial centre are saying that benefits include an expedited service which mean companies can be registered in four hours, compared to the regular 48 hour service. The new online registration facility is also being touted as allowing licensed service providers have full access “24/7” to the files of the entities they manage, according to CNS Business.Caribbean Journal is also reporting the Cayman government’s announcement of the new online registration facility. The news site stated that all transactions relating to the registrations of companies in Cayman can now be completed online — though only by the licensed service providers.Registrar General Cindy Jefferson-Bulgin is quoted as saying the system allows for “paperless transactions,” as company registration certificates can be printed in a company’s registered office.“While this upgrade streamlines the registration and maintenance processes for our clients in the area of companies, we will be working on getting partnerships online in a similar manner,” she said.Donnell Dixon, who is the deputy registrar at the Cayman Islands Government, said the upgrade would have “significant advantages,” namely “quicker processing and lower costs for company registrations,” according to the online publication.
