Former Regiment CO appointed CEO of East End Telecom
Lt Col Brain Gonsalves, the former Commanding Officer of the Bermuda Regiment, is joining East End Telecom (Telecom) as its chief executive officer, the company’s board of directors has reported.
A press release announcing the appointment stated: “Brian has recently joined the Telecom team and brings with him significant leadership and organisational experience which will compliment Telecom’s highly competent technical staff.
“Brian will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all operations, and in conjunction with the group executive, will develop the strategic direction for Telecom.”
Telecom is part of the East End Group of Companies which include East End Asphalt and Renaissance Aviation Limited.
It has relationships with global companies including Motorola, Vodaphone, AT&T Wireless, Radio Shack, Proxim and Stratex.
The press release stated: “Our services are used by many of Bermuda’s top organisations and we provide world class telecommunications solutions to the Bermuda public safety agencies, the Bermuda Government, essential service organisations and the construction industry.”
It added that Telecom was the first in Bermuda to deploy international Sky paging, e-mail to paging gateways, GPS vehicle tracking, trunked two-way radio and GSM cellular. “Today, the company focuses on its core radio, paging, GPS and wireless data products and undertakes projects such as the Motorola Marine VHF system that is designed to make the local maritime environment a safer place.
“Telecom is currently offering a Hytera trunked two-way radio network in Bermuda which has already been provided to a few of our customers with great success.”
