Three charities benefits from Marsh / Guy Carpenter donations

Time for giving: David Ezekiel, Bermuda chairman of Marsh & McLennan Companies and chairman of Marsh’s Bermuda Charity Committee; Theresa Hall, development director, WindReach; Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, fund development/marketing communications director, Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda; Dr Julie Dunstan, executive director of The Reading Clinic

Two Bermuda sister firms have teamed up to donate an $8,150 Christmas present to three Island charities.

Insurance brokers and risk managers Marsh and risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter presented cheques to the trio of charities yesterday.

Mentoring group Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Bermuda got $3,150 — enough to match up two volunteers with children — while the Reading Clinic and WindReach, which works with people with special needs, got $2,500 each.

Bermuda chairman of the Marsh & McLennan group David Ezekiel said: “We chose these specific charities because they align with our philanthropic focus this year on helping and developing the youth of Bermuda.

“Each of these organisations makes a big difference in the community and we’re delighted to provide our support.”

Patrina O’Connor-Paynter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters said: “On behalf of all three charities, I would like to thank Marsh and Guy Carpenter for their generous donations.

“We appreciate their investment in the community and in helping young people in Bermuda to reach their full potential.”

Reading Clinic executive director Dr Julie Dunstan added: “This is the time of year when we often think of children and when many families are seeking help for their children.

“Gifts such as these are truly inspirational and help charities to continue to meet the increasing needs in our community.

“We wish everyone at Marsh and Guy Carpenter all the joys of the season and would like to express our most heartfelt gratitude for their generosity.”
