The US Consulate is too hold virtual conferences with top US businesswomen as part of a global week to promote entrepreneurs.

Deborah Jackson, the founder and CEO of e-commerce and crowdfunding site Plum Alley, will speak at a breakfast seminar on Wednesday focusing on women in entrepreneurship.

And she will be followed on Friday by Monica Dodi, a new media guru and founder of the Women’s Venture Capital Fund on Friday, who will take part in a lunchtime seminar on identifying new sources of capital.

US Consul General Bob Settje said: “Entrepreneurship creates opportunity by unlocking economic growth and creating jobs.

“It is a way to empower people.

“We are excited to bring Ms Jackson and Ms Dodi to Bermuda — albeit virtually — so that they can share their extensive experience and knowledge with aspiring entrepreneurs here.”

The speakers are sponsored by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and will appear in Bermuda through the US State Department’s speaker and specialist programme, which awards grants to American experts to present lectures and conduct workshops and seminars for audiences overseas.
