Gibbons on Chicago business radio show
The Minister for Economic Development was today interviewed for a business show on Chicago radio.
Grant Gibbons spoke on the Opening Bell on the city’s WGN station and highlighted Bermuda’s reputation as an international financial centre and the America’s Cup.
Dr Gibbons said: “While in Chicago, representing Bermuda for the America’s Cup Louis Vuitton World Series races, I participated in a popular Chicago morning radio show, the Opening Bell on WGN.
“Chicago is a major financial centre in the US, so it was a great opportunity to talk about the contributions that Bermuda makes to the US and global commerce, particularly in the reinsurance sector and also to dispel some of the myths around Bermuda as an offshore financial centre following the Panama Papers.
“Bermuda has had a strong relationship with the United States over hundreds of years and it was also a good opportunity to reinforce these close historical connections.”
Dr Gibbons was in the city with Bermuda Business Development Agency chief executive officer Ross Webber and others for a series of meetings in the run-up to America’s Cup World Series races being held in Chicago this weekend.
