Vibrating exercise machines introduced
A dance and exercise studio owner has brought new fitness machines to Bermuda.
Demeka Tacklyn, owner of Bruk Out Studio, plans to use the whole body vibration machines for classes, as well as sell and rent them out.
And she will launch her Dr Fuji cyber slimming machines in Washington Mall next Thursday.
The machines work by sending vibrations through a foot plate, stimulating muscle activity which is said to increase fitness and help lose weight.
Ms Tacklyn, whose studio is in Hamilton’s Ewing Street, said: “It’s a revolutionary way to exercise — people stand on the machine and as soon as you stand on it, it starts to massage them from their feet up.”
She added she tried the machines herself while on a business trip to Las Vegas — and was so impressed she decided to seek approval to become the importer for Bermuda.
Ms Tacklyn said: “It’s aligned with the love I have for body movement — I do it through dancing.
“When I got on the machine, it reminded me of what I do in dancing. They’re really new and cutting edge.
“Other machines, you have to work the machines. Here the machine works you.”
She added that the cyber slimming machines, made by a US-based company, were also ideal for older people and those with limited mobility.
Ms Tacklyn said: “There are a lot of health benefits in it.
“I think people are excited at seeing something they haven’t seen before and that’s what I drive off of too.
“I have a dance studio and I’m going to introduce it there as well.”
The Dr Fuji website said: “With our technology, these strong contractions can be repeated at a rapid rate, up to 3,000 muscle contractions per minute.
“Since the muscle contractions are involuntary, nearly 100 per cent of your muscles are being worked.
“This is in contrast to conventional training, where you may only get 40-60 per cent of your muscles engaged.
“Using more muscles with higher repetitions than conventional training can provide you with results for your whole body in only 15 minutes.”
The machines cost $2,499 each.
