Professional services firm EY has picked student Andrew Brookes as the winner of its annual $30,000-a-year Gil Tucker Bermuda Scholarship.

Craig Redcliffe, partner in EY Bermuda, said: “We are excited to announce Andrew as this year’s recipient,

“He has demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to our community, which are both qualities that Gil Tucker instilled in us as chairman.

“We know Andrew will continue to excel in his studies and use his EY internship to continue to build his skills.”

Mr Brookes is studying business administration with a major in accounting at Trinity Western University in Canada.

The award, which runs for a maximum of five years, is named in honour of Mr Tucker, the former head of EY in Bermuda, who was a driving force in building the company on the island.

The scholarship also includes an eight to ten-week summer internship to gain practical experience, and an offer of full-time employment at EY upon successful completion of study.
