Bermuda is to host two new insurance industry events later this year.

Field Gibson Media’s Insurance Risk and Capital Bermuda will be held on October 20 at the Hamilton Princess.

The company publishes the online InsuranceERM magazine and the conference is expected to attract more than 100 people.

And Newsquest Specialist Media’s Global Reinsurance Innovation and Insurtech is scheduled for Rosewood Tucker’s Point on November 6.

Jereme Ramsay, Bermuda Business Development Agency business development manager, said: “One of our industry’s major objectives is to bring quality industry events to the island to help attract investors and industry executives, including risk managers and insurance buyers, to explore opportunities in Bermuda.

“These events help fulfil that goal and also to bolster our fall tourism season.”

The BDA worked with two London-based organisations to bring the two one day events to Bermuda.

Tony Gibson, managing director of Field Gibson Media, said: “It is an honour for InsuranceERM to hold its distinctive take on risk, capital and asset management in the world’s risk capital.”

Sophie Roberts, associate publisher of Global Reinsurance, said the November conference will also bring around 100 delegates to Bermuda.

She added: “We’re excited to be able to contribute to the conversation around innovation in insurtech and all the opportunities this can present to the Bermuda market — we hope this new event can be a catalyst for new ideas in this fast-developing sphere.”

The InsuranceERM conference coincides with three other industry events to be held over a 10 day period in October.

The World Alternative Investment Summit will take place at the Fairmont Southampton between October 11-13, the Global Fund Forum will be held in the same venue between October 16-18 and the Hamilton Princess will host the annual ILS Bermuda Convergence event between October 18-19.

And, in November, the PwC Standard & Poors Global Bermuda Reinsurance conference will be held at the Hamilton Princess — the 12th year of the event, which attracts senior industry figures to look at the changing face of the industry.
