Marsh and Guy Carpenter have recognised the employees who gave the most volunteer hours during 2017.

As part of the firms’ commitment to community service a donation will be made on behalf of each of the top three volunteering colleagues to a charity of their choice. The programme is based on a similar concept called “Dollars for Doers” in MMC’s US office.

Krystle DeSilva, John Doran and Marissa Santos clocked a total of 387 volunteer hours during the year. The Bermuda office in total contributed more than 2,100 volunteer hours to charities across the island.

Ms DeSilva has requested that her donation go to Cats Bermuda, a charity committed to providing basic food and health needs for homeless cats and assisting the public with spaying and neutering homeless cats.

Mr Doran’s donation will go to The Flora Fund, a fund with the Bermuda Community Foundation, to support Flora Duffy’s vision for aspiring athletes.

Ms Santos selected Scars to receive the donation on her behalf. Scars raises awareness of the devastation that child sexual abuse can cause in the life of an innocent child, their affected family and the community.

“These three employees are impressive examples of how each individual can make a difference,” said Lawrence Bird, head of office and managing director of Marsh Management, Bermuda. “We believe community service is an important part of our lives, and we are proud of Krystle, John and Marissa for their dedication to the community. We are pleased to donate to these three charities on their behalf.”

Karen Roberts-Ray was awarded top individual volunteer out of 30,000 global colleagues at Marsh earlier this year based upon her efforts with Cats Bermuda.
