Trio share MDM legal scholarship award
Three recipients are sharing Marshall Diel & Myers Limited’s Legal Scholarship Award this year.
Zantae Dill and Amelia Oatley will each receive $7,500 to assist with the cost of pursuing their legal studies, while Candace Paynter will receive a $2,500 bursary.
Ms Oatley graduated with a bachelor of law degree at the University of East Anglia this summer. She said she feels honoured to have received the scholarship, and added: “I have had the privilege of working as a summer student at MDM for the past two years and my experience at the firm has been so positive.
“I feel accepted as a part of the team and I feel supported by every member of the staff. The knowledge that I have gained throughout both placements at MDM has really helped me throughout my law degree. This September, I will be studying the Legal Practice Course at The University of Law in Exeter and I am grateful to have received this scholarship to put towards my further studies.”
Ms Dill is a second-year law student at the University of the West of England, and expects to graduate in 2019 with a minor in psychology. She was a recipient of the Abic Education Award and the Stephen Edwards Special Award in 2017. She graduated from Saltus Grammar School in 2016 with honours.
She said: “I cannot express my gratitude enough to the firm for believing in me and investing in my future. I look forward to completing my law degree in this academic year and will always endeavour to exceed the expectations of those who support me.”
Ms Paynter is a Berkeley Institute graduate and is starting her Law LLB programme at the University of Leicester next month.
She thanked the firm and said: “As I enter the university in September to commence my studies, I shall be buoyed by the confidence you have placed in me, and always strive to do my very best for the sake of my parents and all who believe in me including your good selves.”
Adam Richards, managing director at Marshall Diel & Myers Limited, said: “We are extremely pleased to award Amelia and Zantae with this year’s scholarship. Both students impressed us during their work placements with the firm this summer. Each of these young women is extremely intelligent, articulate and astute. I have no doubt that they both have a bright future ahead of them and we are delighted to be assisting them in achieving their career goals.”
