Carey Olsen wins Chambers award
Carey Olsen has been named Offshore Firm of the Year at the Chambers High Net Worth Awards.
The awards were presented at a ceremony in London on Saturday. They celebrate legal excellence in the world of private wealth and are recognised as among the most highly regarded and prestigious awards of their kind globally.
Carey Olsen was shortlisted for the award by the legal directory’s research team following the publication of the 2019 edition of the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth. The guide saw Carey Olsen secure a series of top-tier rankings and Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited, which entered the rankings for the first time in Band 2, described as “a real emerging force”, with one onshore lawyer commenting that “they’re flying — they have a lot of work”.
The guide also included a Band 1 ranking for Carey Olsen Bermuda partner Keith Robinson, who leads the firm’s trusts and private wealth practice. Described in Chambers HNW as “Mr Trust Litigation in Bermuda” and “at the top of everyone’s list when you want an effective litigator in Bermuda”, Mr Robinson was one of only two lawyers in Bermuda to have been ranked in Band 1.
Ashley Fife and Cheri Minors make up the rest of the trusts and private wealth team in Bermuda with Mr Fife also ranked in the guide as an “Up and Coming” practitioner and described as “excellent”, “sharp and very responsive” and someone with “very good international experience”.
Mr Robinson said: “Carey Olsen Bermuda itself is less than two years old and this award is also a recognition of the ongoing expansion of Carey Olsen in Bermuda and the Caribbean, but also in our key offices in Asia.”
Carey Olsen has one of the largest trusts and private wealth teams in the offshore world with 50 partners and associates providing advice on the laws of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey to local and international clients and their advisers.
