John McSweeney and Larissa Roche have joined Appleby Bermuda’s dispute resolution and corporate department.
Prior to becoming an associate in Appleby’s dispute resolution department, Mr McSweeney was a litigation associate at Cox Hallett and Wilkinson, where he represented clients in a wide range of civil and commercial disputes. He regularly appears before the Magistrates’ Court, Supreme Court and statutory tribunals.
An Appleby spokesman said Mr McSweeney’s breadth of knowledge enabled him to be versatile and provide clients with timely and sound advice. In addition to being admitted in Bermuda, Mr McSweeney has also been admitted in England and Massachusetts. He is Bermudian.
“Joining Appleby represents an exciting opportunity for me and I am delighted to be joining their respected dispute resolution team,” Mr McSweeney said. “I look forward to continuing to deliver the high quality level of client services for which the firm has become known.”
John Wasty, global co-head of dispute resolution and head of Bermuda’s dispute resolution practice said it was a pleasure to welcome Mr McSweeney to the team.
“With the addition of John our team is 12 strong and we are planning further recruitment as business continues to grow,” Mr Wasty said.
Ms Roche is now an associate in the corporate department of Appleby’s Bermuda office. Prior to joining Appleby, she articled and then practised at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer, a top-tier Canadian law firm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Her diverse practice covers all areas of corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, amalgamations, reorganisations, general corporate and insurance law, aviation and joint ventures.
Ms Roche said: “I am very excited to be joining Appleby and look forward to becoming part of such a dynamic team.”
“John and Larissa are excellent additions to our team”, said Tim Faries, office managing partner. “Each brings a wide range of expertise and knowledge that will benefit both the firm and our clients. We look forward to the continued growth of the firm’s services and clientele with John and Larissa’s support.”
