Carey Olsen shortlisted for offshore award
Carey Olsen has been shortlisted for Offshore Firm of the Year at the annual Chambers High Net Worth Awards, having won the award last year.
Finalists for the awards, which celebrate legal excellence in the world of private wealth, are selected as a result of extensive and objective research by the highly regarded legal directory’s team of more than 200 analysts and follows the recent publication of the 2020 edition of the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth guide.
In the edition, Carey Olsen Bermuda partner Keith Robinson, who is head of the firm’s trusts and private wealth practice, was the only lawyer in Bermuda to be ranked in Band 1.
A spokesman for the company said he was acknowledged by sources as a “first-rate lawyer” and “a long-term strategic partner on significant contentious matters”.
Counsel Ashley Fife moved up to Band 2 in the rankings and was described as “a real-up-and-comer” and someone “making a name for himself”. Carey Olsen Bermuda itself was lauded for making “real inroads into the private client area” in the jurisdiction and for having “grown remarkably” since its launch at the end of 2017.
As a group, Carey Olsen led all offshore law firms by virtue of being ranked in more jurisdictions than any other legal provider. In addition to its Band 2 ranking in Bermuda, Carey Olsen remains the only law firm to achieve Band 1 status in Guernsey, while the firm’s trusts and private wealth teams in Jersey (Band 2) and the Cayman Islands (Band 3) were are also recognised.
“Having won this highly prestigious award last year, Carey Olsen is delighted to have once again been named among the finalists for 2020,” Mr Robinson said. “It builds upon our superb set of rankings in the latest Chambers High Net Worth guide which are a testament to the very hard work and excellent client service provided by the firm’s trusts and private wealth team in Bermuda and further afield. We are very grateful to our clients for their instructions without whom none of this would be possible.”
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the awards will take place virtually on October 8.
Carey Olsen is one of three firms shortlisted for the Offshore Firm of the Year category.
