March is Curves Food Drive month
Curves Bermuda will be holding its annual food drive to benefit local food banks this month.
The aim of the fundraiser is twofold — get fit while donating non-perishable food stuff.
Last year the Curves Food Drive collected 11 million pounds of food for local communities world-wide, said Leslie Veney, manager of Curves Bermuda.
"To celebrate the generosity of the Bermuda Community, Curves is waiving its normal service fee for any new member who brings in a bag of non-perishable groceries and joins between March 1 and March 31, 2007," she said.
Last year more than 247,940 new members joined Curves Worldwide during the Food Drive.
But the food drive is not just for Curves participants, she said.
"Others wishing to donate may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Saturday during normal business hours throughout the month of March," said Ms Veney.
"The Curves Food Drive promotion is always exciting, as it gives us a chance to help so many people in Bermuda who are in need, while we assist more women in reaching their fitness and weight loss goals.
"It's a win-win situation for everyone, and we're very proud to participate."
