Argus employees help replant Admiralty Park

Argus Group employees planted native plants at Admiralty House Park, Pembroke to help preserve the Island's natural beauty.

To celebrate Bermuda's Quincentennial, volunteers and their family members planted Bermuda Cedars, Bermuda Palmetto, Bermuda Snowberry, Jamaican Dog Wood, Bay Bean seeds and Seaside Morning Glory at the Spanish Point park.

"The Argus Group is committed to helping to maintain public open spaces in Bermuda especially in a densely populated parish like Pembroke," Argus Group President Gerald Simons said in a Press release.

"We appreciate the work carried out by the Ministry of the Environment in restoring native flora. It is important for adults to encourage our children and grandchildren to take ownership of and pride in our environment so that our descendants can continue to enjoy our beautiful Bermuda for the next 500 years and beyond."

Environment Minister Neletha Butterfield praised everyone involved in the project.

"It is so great to see companies like the Argus Group getting involved in the community and working together for the benefit of all Bermuda's residents. On an Island the size of Bermuda, our parklands represent precious green space," she said.

"I would like to praise the Argus Group, and all of the staff and families who came out for this special event, for their hard work and dedication to improve our environment."

Martin Duncan, Acting Senior Superintendent of the Department of Parks welcomed supporting of Admiralty House Park.

"Admiralty House Park is a fantastic green space and it is good to see the Argus volunteers and their families working with the Ministry of the Environment and Department of Parks, to improve our local environment," Mr. Duncan said. "Replanting Admiralty House Park with native and endemic plants is an important step in restoring some of the Island's original landscape that has been lost with the introduction of invasive plants and the reduction in green space."
