Ce Ce?s gospel touches the soul

After waiting in the sweltering summer heat for over an hour, concert goers witnessed a dynamic, powerful performance from six-time Grammy award winning Gospel artist CeCe Winans.

Ms Winans treated her audience to many favourites from her Throne Room, CeCe Winans and Alabaster Box albums.

The concert was scheduled to begin at 7.30 p.m. but was delayed until 7.47 p.m. on Saturday night at The Chapel of the Anointing on North Shore Road, Pembroke.

As a fan of Ms Winans since my younger years I thoroughly enjoyed the Gospel celebration. Ms Winans delivered song after song with her beautiful, strong voice.

As she stepped on to the stage, Ms Winans said: ?Let?s give the Lord a hand clap of praise?.

She began her ministry of music with a popular song from her 2001 CeCe Winans album, ?King of Kings and Lord of Lords?. The crowd immediately stood to their feet and sang along with her and her back up singers.

Ms Winans followed her opener with ?Anybody wanna pray with me? and ?We need your love today?, a song about how much people need the love of God.

The crowd continued to stand to their feet and sing with Ms Winans. ?If you came in those doors without him don?t leave here without him,? Ms Winans encouraged the audience.

She went on to tell the audience about the passing of her eldest brother, Ronald Winans. Ms Winans thanked everyone for their prayers and said she believed that he is in a better place now.

?No matter what you through you can worship your way out,? she said to a standing congregation.

Ms Winans sang a song from her new album, Purified which is scheduled for release on September 13. The song, ?He?s concerned about you? was a beautiful reminder that God cares about you no matter who you are or where you are from.

Ms Winans continued with ?We thirst for you? a song from the Throne Room album.

?Alabaster Box? definitely touched me and probably the whole church. The song is about when Mary Magdalene came to wash Jesus? feet with only a small vial of perfume and her long hair.

Alabaster box basically says that you can come to Jesus no matter your circumstances or your situation. He is willing to accept you no matter what. Ms Winans brought tears to many people?s eyes as she sang that song.

The Chapel of the Anointing choir opened the evening with two songs. Adrianne Archie and her accompanist Joel Goodwin from Kentucky also ministered to the audience.

I can honestly say that this was one of the best concerts I have been to in a long time. Ms Winans came to Bermuda to minister and I believe she was more than successful.

Ms Winans stayed after the concert to meet and greet her fans. She also ministered at The Chapel of the Anointing for Sunday service.
