Centre to honour Troy Darrell

The Centre's Dinner Show will feature a mixture of musicians and will be in honour of one of the Island's boxers.

The Centre, supervisor, Deeandra Bannister said the event will also honour Bermuda Sports Hall of Fame boxer Troy Darrell and the proceeds will benefit two families with autistic children.

Mr. Darrell was one of Bermuda's best ever boxers, and was one of the world's best middleweights in the 1980s, eventually retiring with a record of 29 wins and three losses with 23 KO's.

But before he achieved boxing fame, Mr. Darrell learned the art under the tutelage of Sammy Wilson at the Centre on Anfle Street.

"Eddie Ming and his student drummers will also take part," she said, "And the jazzy sounds of Gladys Darrell. She will be accompanied by James Richardson on keyboard.

"The spotlight will shine on the catwalk during interlude for a dazzling Fashion presentation."

Along with all of the entertainment, patrons can enjoy dinner, which will also caters to vegetarians.

Tickets are $15 and are available from The Centre, Angle Street, Hamilton. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start. For more information on this event 292-1343.
