Concert hopes to deliver all the joy and promise of Easter
A special gathering of outstanding musicians from America and Bermuda will present a Good Friday Concert at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.
Musical director is William E. Thomas, who is the director of performances at the Phillips Academy, said the concert programme will feature a wide selection of music.
?The concert will include a selection of Negro spirituals chosen from a body of works that express the passion and drama of the season combined with the joy and promise of Easter,? said Mr. Thomas.
?These works will feature Bermuda?s own internationally acclaimed artist, tenor Dr. Gary Burgess. The programme will also include Vivaldi?s ?D Minor Double Violin Concerto? and will feature Bermudian violinists Jay Butler and Neville Christopher Darrell and Ndidi Menkiti on the cello.
?The programme will conclude with J.S. Bach?s choral masterpiece ?Christ lag in Todesbanden? (Cantata No.4).?
Mr. Thomas said this concert is an extraordinary opportunity to hear these inspiring works.
?The ensemble will be the International Festival Chorus and Chamber Orchestra, which will include musicians from the United States and Bermuda,? he said.
