Erica Bean joins national scholars

Erica N. Bean, was honoured at a ceremony held at Howard University's campus during the autumn where she was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective, national, non-profit organisation. Founded in 1994, NCS recognises first and second undergraduate students who excel acedemically. Students must attain a minimum of 3.5 GPA in order to be nominated to become a member of this prestigious society.

The society was established on the principle that with this scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service.

"NSCS provides the opportunity for students, like Erica, to be recognised for their outstanding academic accomplishments early in their college experience", said Steve Loflin, NSCS Executive Director. "Erica also has the opportunity to join other high achieving college students in developing leadership skills and a sense of civic responsibility."

The ceremony was attended by Erica's mother, Carmen Bean and her grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Morrissey.
