Festival-goers to get a tasty treat
The third annual Bermuda Culinary Arts Festival will take place next month at the Botanical Gardens.
Tourism Minister Ewart Brown said the festival?s new date in October was chosen to maximise the potential visitor exposure for Bermuda. In previous years the festival has taken place in November at an indoor venue.
This year it will take place from October 21 to 24, hot on the heels of the Bermuda Music Festival which runs from October 5 to 8. ?We expect that the momentum of the Bermuda Music Festival will carry forward to the Culinary Arts Festival,? Dr. Brown said.
By moving the event outdoors to the Botanical Gardens this year, organisers hope to take it in a direction similar to the popular Aspen Food and Wine Festival.
However, one thing that hasn?t changed is the impressive line up of celebrity chefs and wine experts who will help make this a must-attend event.
The festival will include cooking demonstrations, wine and gourmet food tasting, seminars conducted by celebrity chefs, live entertainment and much more.
Many ?Who?s Who? of the culinary world will be on hand including Anthony Bourdain, Todd English, Michael Lomonaco and Richard Sandoval.
The line-up will be complimented by wine specialists Lisa Peju and Amy Reiley.
Dr. Brown said the event offers a prime opportunity for visitors to not only experience Bermuda in the autumn, but also to sample Bermuda?s blend of international cuisine and local delicacies.
?As such, in addition to the celebrity chefs, we have an array of talented Bermudians who will be taking part in this year?s festival including Edmund Smith of Mediterraneo and Ascot?s, and Steve Marston, the Pickled Onion chef and winner of last year?s Escoffier Cup,? he said.
