Interim to feature works from Rouja, Benson

Although Daniel Benson and Jean Pierre Rouja will occupy adjacent rooms of the Interim, there is no connecting theme with their work other than their use of modern technology.

Mr. Benson has used video installation and Mr. Rouja pulled on computer generated imagery for this show.

Mr. Benson said: "The work can be described as a short video piece. The video shows a moth being navigated around an apartment. The moth weaves a path through the different rooms attracted by the light source in each room.

"The moth's instinct draws it towards the light and the lights being switched on and off are controlling the moths movements."

The video is also accompanied by a collection of photographic images," he said.

Mr. Rouja's artwork contains computer graphics originally created in the 1990s for a clothing line.

They have been featured in various international publications including ID Magazine (UK), Rap Pages (US), and Fine Magazine (Japan).

The line was also carried by Colette (Paris) and XL Store (Los Angeles), Urban Outfitters (UK, US) and in boutiques in Tokyo.

The graphics are being recycled to poster form for the show.

The show runs from tonight to October 27. The Interim is located on the corner of King and Reid Streets and is open Wednesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
