It?s party time!
Hallowe?en may not be till Tuesday but this is the weekend of the Hallowe?en bash. Lifestyle reporter Ren? Hill has done some hunting for information to give you the opportunity to pick the Ghoulfest that best suits your needs, while Nancy Acton has some great suggestions for those who plan to throw their own events.....
@EDITRULE:
Being spooked is not the theme of the Barmuvinjam Hallowe?en Bash, although the fashions of the Depression and Prohibition eras will abound at this 1920s and 1930s inspired event. The vintage-styled event is being held tonight at the Deep night club.
Barmuvinjam party organiser Renalda Bean suggested all sorts of styles for partygoers ? from Flapper Dresses, feathered hats and extendable cigarette holders for the ladies to Zoot Suits accompanied by two-toned brogues for the men.
Asked why he chose this particular theme, he told The Royal Gazette that he and his team like their patrons to be a cut above the rest. ?Every year we try to come up with a broad and creative theme that will allow our patrons to get into character without looking exactly like the person beside them,? he said.
?We actually toyed with this idea for last year?s party, but the Egyptian theme prevailed.
?This year, we brainstormed, pondered, deliberated and debated and after all that, we came up with the Prohibition era theme due to the popularity of movies like ?Harlem Nights,? ?Chicago? and ?Moulin Rouge?.
?Later when Outkast came out with ?Idlewild,? it was like the stars aligned. We are expecting a huge response to this year?s theme, as there is a character for everyone from your suspender-wearing paperboy to your fedora-donning gangster!?
Mr. Bean said they were anticipating between 300 to 350 revellers this year. Barmuvinjam in collaboration with Siren Productions aim to raise the bar on the party-going experience.
?There has been something of a renaissance of late on the party scene,? said Mr. Bean. ?And we at Barmuvinjam are excited to be a part of it. We feel that people shouldn?t have to settle for just a big hall with loud music. They should demand, and get, more bang for their buck!
?Indeed, we design and produce our events with this fundamental premise in mind. We constantly try to throw in the extras to make our guests feel special. I cannot say anymore, as the rest are trade secrets.?
Party-goers can also expect a little fringe fashion show featuring lingerie from Secrets and something for those of us who want to place a harmless wager.
?Secrets is one of our long-term sponsors and they will be providing some models that will feature theme-style lingerie in a very unique, very special fashion show,? he added. ?There will also be a casino where patrons can win drinks and other prizes and there will be a Chicago-themed stage show that I?m sure everyone will enjoy.?
But this party is not for everyone and attendees have to be members of Barmuvinjam or the Deep or accompanying a member of either. ?The Hallowe?en Party is a members? only party, however, members of both Barmuvinjam and the Deep are allowed to bring one non-member guest,? explained Mr. Bean.
?This is an exclusive event and is meant to reward our members. The idea is for members to bring folks who are not yet members and open their eyes to the best thing in local entertainment in years.
?So if you?re not a member yet, find out which of your friends is a member and beg them to bring you. You will want to be at this party!?
For more information, or if you are interested in becoming a Barmuvinjam member, please visit www.barmuvinjam.com.
Tickets, $15 can be purchased by members from Sasch or the Deep. Otherwise, members can pay at the door with proof of membership.

You can get your spook on for the Hallowe?en weekend, however, at Fright Night, the second annual Hallowe?en Ball.
Volcanic event organisers Jon Legere and Matthew Strong say that they are anticipating anywhere from 700 to 1,000 people to attend the event, which is set to take place tomorrow night at Fort Hamilton.
?This will be the second annual Hallowe?en Ball at Fort Hamilton and will be the biggest Hallowe?en Party to date,? said Mr. Legere.
?We believe this event to be the most highly anticipated event of Volcanic?s annual line-up. This event is sponsored by Goslings and is suitable for everyone over the age of 18.
?As with last year?s event, we will have a creative aspect in the form of our famous ?haunted house? style tour of the moat and tunnels of Fort Hamilton.
?Look out as this year is guaranteed to scare the masses. The squeamish and faint-hearted need not take the tour. So be there and be scared. Tours end at 11 p.m., so don?t be late as some missed it last year.?
There will be familiar elements to this event like photographic portraits done by Meredith Andrews (www.meredithandrewsphotography.com) and new initiatives, such as Hallowe?en games that give patrons an incentive to go and meet new people.
?There will be a full service bar decorated by Goslings, which will help raise funds and awareness for The Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation, which is a registered charity.?
In a bid to keep the roads safe, Mr. Strong said the organisers have taken measures into their own hands. ?We are also pleased to announce our designated driver incentive programme where upon arrival any patrons willing to be a designated driver will get a bracelet that allows them free non-alcoholic drinks all night,? he said.
Jamaican Grill will be on hand to dish out ghoulish delights, so bring your appetite. This event is sure to sell out so remember to buy your tickets in advance.
No tickets will be sold at the gate. Tickets, $40, can be purchased at www.boxoffice.bm, Jackson School of Performing Arts and Frameworks.
Patrons must come in costume. For more information visit www.volcanic.bm. Gates open at 8 p.m.

A haunting time will also take place at the seventh annual Teachers Rugby Club Hallowe?en Party before the witching hour tomorrow night.
The spooky party will get underway at Docksider?s Pub and Restaurant on Front Street.
Organiser Nick Ball encouraged party goers to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment as the event is always sold out. ?In the early years, we only had the use of Docksider?s back room,? he said, ?But as soon as the ?word? got out, the Hallowe?en parties started to evolve and we ended up taking over the entire bar.
?Teacher?s RFC has a huge following and everyone knows the events we put on are always lots of fun and safe!?
Asked who was the DJ for the event, Mr. Ball told The Royal Gazette, that they too would need to come and see, but he did hint: ?The DJ has raised from the dead for this event.
?You?ll have to come to the party to find out what is brewing in the cauldron, but here?s a hint ? it will be RED!
?Prizes will also be awarded for the best costumes.?
Tickets, $20, can be purchased at Otto Wurz, Front Street, C-Mart, North Shore Road, Vinyl Tech and Docksider?s, both on Front Street East, and from TRFC members.

East Enders who are feeling a little catty and witchy can attend the Smooth Entertainment and Twinn Starr Productions CSI Catwoman Night 2006 tomorrow. It is an over-25s sensation at Light, in St. George?s.
China and Bussie and Twin Starr will play old school Reggae, Hip Hop, R&B and more.
Ladies are encouraged to wear their catsuits or other costumes while men are being encouraged to ?get their pimp on?.
Women in costume before midnight get in free, after it is $10. For the gents it is $20 all night. Identification is required.

And for those who think a Hallowe?en costume should be about less rather than more, Splash is having a Sexy Hallowe?en bash tomorrow night which will include Playgirl and Playboy bars and a lingerie bar as well as cage and pole dancers grooving to sounds of DJ Bitsy.
Have fun and play safe.
