On May 14, 2006 received her Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Psychology, Cum Laude from Atlantic Union College (AUC), South Lancaster, Massachusetts. She was the pastor of the graduating class.
Attending the graduation from Bermuda were her parents, Paula Hodge (Postlewaite), Larry Hodge, grandmother Inga Postlewaite, aunts Rudy Lightbourne, Wendy Augustus, special friends Leighton Newell, Brendall Simons, Mr. and Mrs Dwayne & Kim Burgess and family, Chernoa Jimenez, Fabienne Charles and Kirosha Huggan.
Alisha graduated from Bermuda Institute with high honours in June 2002 and received an award as a member of the National Honours Society for Secondary Schools that same year. She also served as Spiritual Vice President from 2001/02.
During her four years of study at AUC (from 2002-2006), she received several awards; National Deans List, Academic Deans List, Who's who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and was nominated for the United States Achievement Academy Collegiate All American Scholar Award. She was the Social Vice President, and President of NAPS (National Association for the Prevention of Starvation) AUC Branch for three years and President for Super Psychologist of Tomorrow SPOT, at AUC.
On January 18, 2007, Alisha commenced a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology Degree at Assumption College in Worchester, Massachusetts. Her ambition is to provide clinical counselling for high risk children.
The family wishes to thank all those who encouraged, prayed for and provided tangible support for Alisha. She celebrates her 23rd birthday on Sunday.
Dr. Alicia Margaret Hancock, daughter of Michael and Shirley Mullen, received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University's APA accredited programme in October 2006. She specialised in child, adolescent and family psychology. Alicia worked as a Master's level therapist in a variety of clinical settings including in-patient, residential and out-patient while attending graduate school. She completed several clinical practica for her doctoral programme which included therapy, psychological testing, consulting, programme development and supervision.
Alicia completed her pre-doctoral internship in August 2006 at Quinco Behavioral Health Systems APA accredited internship site in Columbus , Indiana. She completed and successfully defended her dissertation titled, "Mental Health in Pediatric Primary Care" in October 2006. Her special interests include psychological testing and therapy with children and families.
Alicia obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 and her Master of Arts degree in 2000 both from the University of Indianapolis. She was a competitive swimmer for several years and competed in the Commonwealth Games in 1998. Alicia recently returned to Bermuda with her husband and is currently working at E.A.P.
Mr. and Mrs Michael Burpee are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter to Mr. Steven Rees Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Davis of Knutsford, Cheshire, UK.
The wedding will take place in September 2007 in North Wales.
