Make this a time for self-improvement
With the Christmas and New Year celebrations now safely behind us, it is time to settle down and plan for the year ahead. Self-improvement, it seems, is always top of the list: be it physical, financial, or educational.
The improvement or acquisition of knowledge and skills is always a smart move, particularly during the winter months when the weather puts the many pleasures of outdoor living on hold.
As always, Government's Community Education and Development Programme offers an ever-expanding and diverse programme of opportunities for all ages at reasonable prices, and some courses are even free. "Golden agers", a perfumed term for the over 65s, pay nothing at all where enrolment allows, except for computer courses, while primary, middle and senior secondary school students are also offered a similar deal.
Classes are available in centres Islandwide, making it easy for anyone to attend ? but with just today and tomorrow left to register without incurring a late fee penalty, there is no time to waste in signing up.
