MONSTER BASH
An event to thrill the kiddies and maybe even spook their parents will be taking place tonight and tomorrow night at Fort Hamilton.
The Haunted Playground is taking over the Fort for the second Halloween season running and its organisers Matthew Strong and Jon Legere of Volcanic Productions said it is not to be missed.
?We wish to build on the tremendous success of last year?s Haunted Playground,? the duo said. ?It will display the beauty of Fort Hamilton, and also bring a new experience for the community to enjoy.?
While the Haunted Playground is clearly about thrills and chills, the organisers said they also want to offer a safe environment for Bermuda?s youngsters.
?There is a need for positive cultural experiences for the children of Bermuda and we feel this event will satisfy this desire, and go beyond their expectations,? said Mr. Legere.
?Essentially this event will provide a safe and fun entertainment option for Halloween.?
Children will be led through the beautiful moat of Fort Hamilton, which will be filled with ghouls and unexpected wickedness so that feigned calamity may strike at any turn.
The organisers have built upon last year?s popular haunted moat tour so that even return thrill seekers should be surprised.
?With the use of props, lighting, sound effects, actors and volunteers, we transform the already mysterious Fort into a premium interactive theatre show for children,? Mr. Legere said.
?We have also created a haunted playground experience for children upon completion of the tour. Here we provide popular activities for children, such as apple bobbing, bouncy castle, et cetera, and the children will each leave with a bag of candy.?
The organisers hope both children and parents will be pleased by the two-evening event they have planned.
Parents will be encouraged to take part in the tour, as no children will be left unsupervised within the Fort.
?The goal is to create an experience that will bring anticipation of Halloween to the children and something for them to truly take pleasure in,? Mr. Legere said.
?We encourage the children to dress-up for the event and prizes for the best costume in many categories will be presented on both nights.?
The Haunted Playground is being presented with the assistance of sponsors Bermynet, Bermuda Bookstore, Catlin, Tuff Dogs Sports Club and Logic Communications.
These sponsors will also be competing against each other for the title of ?best haunted room?, said Mr. Strong.
Each sponsor will develop a haunted room to scare visitors, who will then all have an opportunity to vote for their favourite spooky spot.
Proceeds from this year?s event will go to the Bermuda National Trust and the event is designed to raise both funds for and awareness of this worthy charity.
There will be refreshments from Jamaican Grill on hand, so bring your appetite, the organisers added.
