A recently unveiled film about St. George?s was shown at the Hamilton Rotary on Wednesday.

The chairman of the St. George?s Foundation, David Rowntree, used the film as part of his talk about the Foundation?s ?progress to date?.

?This exciting project has required much dedication on the part of producer Lucinda Spurling, cameraman Robert Zuill, narrator Lance Furbert and coordinator Barbara Simon,? Mr. Rowntree said at the film?s premiere.

?A Stroll through St. George?s? guides the viewer around the Old Town to various buildings of historical importance with Town Manager Lance Furbert.

Filming was often interrupted as people beeped their horns while driving past the shoot as they recognised Mr. Furbert, the Rotarians were told.

So the film makers were left with onle a small window of a few hours in the mornings, or Sundays when the traffic flow around St. George?s was slow enough for shooting to survive Mr. Furbert?s popularity.

Lucinda Spurling said St. Peter?s Church was her favourite site they have covered.

They filmed inside St. Peter?s for almost a whole day, but that did not stop visitors wanting to get inside.

?We had to close the door. Some people got mad at us and banged on the door. We put a sign out saying to come back later,? she said.

The film will show in the new St. George?s Visitor Centre in the Queen?s Warehouse at Penno?s Wharf, the first phase of which is due to be completed in three to four months.

?I hope it will remind people to look around and take in St. George?s and feel privileged to to live in a world heritage site. I hope it reminds people of history and how important (St. George?s) is,? Ms Spurling said.
