Onions to be auctioned off
The last straggler from the French Foreign Legionion, General Charles Shallot has finally made his way to the Fairmont Southampton Resort.
This whimsical interpretation by Will Collieson for the Masterworks Onionation Project is a "must see", exclaimed the Foundation's director Tom Butterfield.
"If you haven't already voted for your favourite onion, this is your last chance to see these imaginative sculptures," he said.
"So check out all the onions in and around the Fairmont Southampton ? because it is just a few days left until they are auctioned off."
The entire bunch of onions will come under the hammer on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Poinciana Room at the Fairmont Southampton.
"Come and join in the fun on Bastille Day and celebrate Masterworks 19th birthday with the chance to go home with your favourite Onion, and come up smelling like a rose!" he added
"Bidding starts at $2,000, there are plenty to choose from, and it will not be over until the Auctioneer says, 'That's Shallot!'"
All proceeds from the auction go to Masterworks Education Fund. Donations welcome. Registration begins at 6 p.m.
