Paget Primary kids to attend seminar ? on making gingerbread

A group of students from Paget Primary will be learning first hand today how to make a home-made gingerbread house.

Elbow Beach pasty sous chef Wansanatha (Wansa) Kachchadura will be conducting a workshop for the 25 youngsters.

First the students will watch a demonstration of gingerbread making and then there will be hands-on participation.

"Elements of the workshop include how to make gingerbread dough, how to cut and bake pieces for the gingerbread house, and how to construct and decorate the house itself," a hotel press release said.

"Afterwards each student will be given an Elbow Beach lunchbox with fresh baked gingerbread cookies for them to enjoy at home."

The workshop is part of the build up to the hotel's sixth annual Gingerbread House Competition which will be held on Monday, December 11.

The contest offers prizes in three categories ? adult, child and school.

The hotel will also be hosting Gingerbread workshops for the general public over the next two Saturdays.

Workshops will be held on November 18 and 25, with two running each day between 10 a.m. and noon and between 2 and 4 p.m. The cost of the workshops will be $25 for children and $45 for adults.
