St. George?s Foundation hires Education officer

Leondra Burchall has been appointed the first ever Education Officer for the St. George?s Foundation.

The appointment comes at a crucial time for the foundation as Phase Two of the Old Town?s restoration as a World Heritage Site is getting underway.

Mrs. Burchall will be responsible for developing the foundation?s formal and informal educational programmes and events and activities targeting residents, students, teachers and visitors.

She is currently completing her Doctoral Degree in History from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Mrs. Burchall holds Master?s and Bachelor?s Degrees in History from Howard University in Washington.

A native of Ohio, Mrs. Burchall is married to Public Affairs Officer John Burchall.

The XL Foundation has sponsored the Education Officer position for a period of three years. Mrs. Burchall said she is looking forward to her new position.

?The Foundation?s work is an important contribution to society, and Bermuda?s residents, visitors, students and teachers will benefit from learning the historical significance of St. George?s and how it fits within world history,? she said.

The St. George?s Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to raising funds for Bermuda?s World Heritage Site ? the Town of St. George and Related Fortifications.
