Students win BMDS scholarships
The Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society Charitable Trust has awarded scholarships to three students studying the theatrical arts.
Kerri-Lynne Dietz, Kendia Gill and Madison Mello were each named recipients of the $5,000 scholarships for 2005.
Ms Dietz is studying vocal performance at the Mannes College of Music in New York while Ms Gill is studying musical theatre at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.
Ms Mello is studying music and theatre at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The BMDS Charitable Trust was formed after past member Kate Huntington was killed in a motorcycle accident in India in August, 2000.
Ms Huntington, 27, had studied drama in Canada and travelled the world before returning to Bermuda to save money for the trip to India.
Her family requested that all funds donated on her behalf be used to promote theatre among Bermuda?s youth.
Applications for 2006 scholarships will be available on the BMDS website, www.bmds.bm.
