Maryland Lodge rolls out the red carpet
Two of Bermuda's most prominent Masonic personages, Rt. Wor. St. Clair Brinkworth (Brinky) Tucker and R.W. Bro Les Center, are back home after attending the gala installation of the Grand Lodge of Maryland and a heavy round of banquets.
"The hospitality was second to none," said widely-travelled Bro. Tucker.
"The carpet that was rolled out for us was bright red. The temple was magnificent, the most beautiful temple I have ever seen in my life and I have seen a few in many countries.
"There was plenty of marble and gold and the building is massive. The main meeting room seats about 700 people. Distinguished guests from 22 states and Canada and Bermuda were represented. There were also women and children at the installation ceremony, unlike in Bermuda and other countries. This grand affair is held every two years."
Eight other brethren accompanied Bros. Tucker and Center to Maryland from Bermuda. Now that they are back, they have gone into high gear for an invasion of Masonic VIPs who will be coming to Bermuda for the annual installations of Lodge St. George and Hannibal Lodge, to be held on January 13 and 14.
It will be recalled that the Most Worshipful Grand Master Jack Biggs and some 30 other Maryland masons and wives visited Bermuda in June. The host lodge was Lodge 200 in St. George's, where they were demonstrated outstanding Scottish degree work.
The following evening they witnessed outstanding Irish workings at the same temple. During the last meeting the Grand Master extended official invitations Bro. Tucker, who is the Grand Master of the Prov. Grand Lodge of Ireland in Bermuda, and to R.W. Bro. Center, Grand Superintendent of Scottish Lodge in Bermuda to attend their recent installation
Many brethren are expected to visit Bermuda for Lodge 200 Installation on January 13 and the following evening's Hannibal Lodge Installation.
It is a strong possibility they will also visit Bermuda Garrison Lodge on January 12.
Expected are M.W. Brother Allan J. Petrisor and the Deputy Grand Master, R.W. Bro. Raymond S.J. Daniels, both from the Grand Lodge of Ontario, Canada, M.W. Bro. Michael L. Ferguson, Grand Master of Prince Hall of Connecticut and his Deputy Grand Master and there is a possibility some of his Grand Lodge Officers.
Past Grand Masters and Grand Lodge Officers from New Jersey and brethren from Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Boston, Massachusetts are also expected.
Right: Prov. Grand Master R.W. Tucker is with M.W. Jack Biggs, Grand Master of Maryland, M.W. Grand Master Michael L. Ferguson, Grand Master of Prince Hall of Connecticut and R.W. Leslie Center, Grand Superintendent of all Scottish Lodges in Bermuda.
