Mosaic tribute to Black History MonthRuth Thomas and Company (Gary Phillips, Leo Mills and Grace Rawlins) will present Mosaic #58 — ‘Bringing Bermuda history and tributes to life’ tonight [NOTE]feb 15[\NOTE]at the Bermuda National Gallery in tribute to Black History and Education Month. The skit, encapsulating segments of Bermuda’s black history, will present information pertaining to past events and personalities who helped to shape facets of Bermuda life. The evening will begin with a reception at 5.30 p.m., followed by the performance at 6 p.m. Tickets ($10 for members, $20 others) are available at the Gallery.Shakespeare Master classApplications are invited from thespians aged 18 and up who are interested in taking a free Shakespeare master class to be conducted by Bermuda Festival artists, The Aquila Company, on February 27 at City Hall theatre, beginning at 6 p.m.
The class will explore the beauty and difficulties found while acting Shakespeare. Participants will be shown the clear directions and choices that the Bard gives the actor within the text, and introduced to some of Aquila’s methods of classical acting. Textual analysis will include examples of verse structure and rhythm, and will focus on exploring the demands and rewards of verse speaking.
The master class will be designed to give participants a strong comprehension and illumination of a Shakespearean text from a performance perspective.

The public is encouraged to sit in on the class, for which admission is $5.Alternative art form classesArtist/producer Jon Legere will present a series of weekly video production and performance art classes at the Masterworks Foundation on the first three Saturdays in March, the aim of which is to introduce teenagers to various alternative art forms, processes and techniques.
The classes, which are part of the Foundation’s ongoing series, Studio 183, will be divided into three sessions covering storyboarding a film script, filming, and set production, as well as digital computer editing and viewing of the final group piece. Sessions will be from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., and Mr. Legere will direct the class in collaboration with Masterworks’ special events coordinator/administrative assistant Kate Waters.
All materials will be provided, and teenagers at all artistic levels are invited to register. For further information

Its theme, designed to tie in with Valentine’s, is a mixed media event which includes photography, collage, oils, water colours, batik and wall hangings. The opening reception, with free wine and food, is from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., and the galley is located in the old Elliot School building on Jubilee Road. The show will end on March 1.
