They attended a two-day workshop conducted by the Salvation Army for the EMO.

The workshop at the Salvation Army building in Roberts Avenue, Devonshire, was aimed at training volunteers to work in emergency shelter accommodation.

Instructors Major Paul Curnow and Mr. Tom McSherry came from the Salvation Army headquarters in the US, and topics covered included the organisation, administration and duties involved in running a shelter programme.

The Salvation Army and the Seventh Day Adventist Churches have signed a "Memorandum of Understanding'' with the EMO, which allows churches to be used to house people made homeless by a disaster.
