Asthma support group a breath of fresh air
The Bermuda Asthma and Allergy Support Group was established three years ago to assist asthma and allergy sufferers through patient and public education programmes and charitable donations.
The group is a member of the Eczema Association of America. Joining the group, for which there is no charge, enables that member to receive discounts on products purchased at the Asthma and Allergy Centre.
Jenefer Brimmer is the president/treasurer, Kathy Chapman the chairperson, Cathy Bassett the secretary and Lovette Lovell the assistant treasurer.
Their commitment is to maintain the following goals: To provide free patient understanding of their illness, how to control them and the burdens of these disorders.
to provide free emotional support to patients and families suffering from asthma and allergies.
Encourage continuous learning and updated knowledge about asthma, eczema and allergic disease among health professionals and patients.
To provide free medically accurate guidance (without crossing the line of the doctor's role) and clearly written resources by medical professionals, for allergies and asthma.
To provide an important communication link among parents, guardians, adults, schools, physicians and the parmaceutical industry in efforts to help patients and their families to learn how to overcome the struggles of living with allergies and asthma.
To conduct free continuous educational seminars to the public on asthma and allergies, and to facilitate accurate information among patients, parents and physicians.
To donate medical devices and environmental controlling products to patients who are in need of assistance.
