Brown to have neck surgery
tomorrow in a Washington D.C. hospital.
Dr. Brown suffered a sports injury years ago which he said has been getting progressively worse.
Tomorrow a neurological surgeon is due to operate on Dr. Brown in a routine operation, although he is not expected to be released from the Howard University Hospital for a week.
"I have had a problem with two discs in my neck for some time and they are pressing on the spinal cord,'' said Dr. Brown yesterday, speaking from Washington.
"I could be in hospital for about a week, but I hope to be back in Bermuda by next Monday.'' Although the operation is routine, Dr. Brown expects to have to undergo extensive physiotherapy and has employed a locum to take care of his doctor's practice.
"I will be off for an indefinite period,'' added the Shadow Human Affairs Minister.
"There is a rehabilitation programme which I will have to follow to strengthen the muscles in my neck.
"I had an injury way back as an athlete and over the years it has degenerated.'' TWO VISITORS IN HOSPITAL AFTER CRASH AC Two visitors in hospital after crash Two visitors were hospitalised with broken bones on Saturday afternoon following a cycle crash.
