Charity cyclists finish tour day early
marathon 1,000 mile end-to-end bicycle run through Britain -- a day ahead of schedule.
The two -- who started their bike ride at Land's End in Cornwall on July 8 -- wheeled into John O'Groats in Scotland yesterday afternoon.
The two points are the most southern point of the UK and the most northern.
And the two have almost reached their target of $150,000 for the art collection -- and cash is still coming in.
Masterworks assistant director Elise Outerbridge said: "They sent all their good wishes to everybody in Bermuda and thanked them for all their support.
"The weather has been beautiful and that has given them a great boost. They sounded really upbeat, they're in good shape and they're very pleased to have finished.'' Ms Outerbridge added that most of the cash raised so far has been from individuals -- not corporate sponsors.
She said: "People have been calling and sending in pledges. One woman gave $500 then gave another $500 because they were doing such a great job.'' The two are expected back in Bermuda next week after a well-earned break -- but Ms Outerbridge said the two would be driving, not cycling, from Scotland to London before flying back to the Island.
